Got a call from an attorney this morning...

Two pre-med students, who are lifelong friends and academic cohorts, are facing expulsion for alleged cheating on an examination.

There is no smoking gun (crib notes, text messages, etc.)

The alleged cheating was uncovered by statistical analysis of the test scores.

It seems the two scholastic chums got remarkably similar results, results that are well above the curve.

I'm looking for your thoughts on some good RQs.

Is it possible that the obvious "Did you cheat on that test?" is strangely enough, overly broad?

I ask because in cases of assault, we don't ask "Did you hurt John Doe?" because "hurt" is too vague a term.

Maybe "Did you cheat on that test?" is sufficient. I'm just looking for a second (or third) opinion.

Thanks,
Dan

I would think that if the two are suspected of having answers that are statistically so close as to indicate collusion between them during the examination, then the questions might be along the lines of

Did you conspire with "name" to cheat on that examination?

Did you and "name" compare your answers during that examination?

Did you receive any of your answers during that examination from "Name"?

Did you provide any answer to "Name" during that test?
